You named a few: Pappu, Aman, Jay. Who are these guys?

Other than Pappu I dont see the other two or any others actively participating. Who are they and where are they?

You are seeing pappu on the forums because your involvement with IV is only on forums. All others in core team work on other tasks. Forum is just a part of what we do. You cannot achieve any legislative or admin fix just by creating a website and installing a forum software. There is a big advocacy and organizational work we have to do on regular basis. If everyone in the team tries to do everything, then nothing will ever be done. Do volunteer your time and get involved. You will get to communicate with many others and work with them closely.

I got only one set of A# for both the applications. When I filed my second application I didn't have my A#. But we have mentioned clearly that there is another application that is filed on behalf of same applicant on MM/DD/YYYY.

I am seeing people getting multiple #A numbers and delays.

If you have filed multiple I485s, pls share your expiences here.

Just a quick question for current Vonage users.
Currently I use Phone Power (VOIP, almost same as Vonage). They give me one nice feature called Remote Click 2 call. What it does is, if I am in office (where there is no long distance calling allowed), I login into my phonepower.com account and click on Remote Click2Call. This asks me to enter the number where I am at, and the destination number. So I get a call at my office phone and it connects me to the destination number. And there is no charge for this call.
Does Vonage offer this kind of feature? and can we make calls to India (under their India unlimited plan) using this feature?

    Thanks.

    Yes vonage has it.
    Vonage - Standard Features - Click-2-Call (http://www.vonage.com/features.php?feature=click_2_call)
It should work for india call too.

    They should
    1. not be based on client location (only visit and communicate), must work from sponser's worksite.
    2. not be managed by client. Must be managed by sponser.

    http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/LVisa_12_9_2004.pdf

The L-1 Reform Act amends previous legislation by addressing the issue of “outsourcing.” L-1B temporary workers can no longer work primarily at a worksite other than their petitioning employer if the work will be controlled and supervised by a different employer or if the offsite arrangement is essentially to provide labor for hire, rather than service related to the specialized knowledge of the petitioning employer. This limitation will apply to all L-1B petitions filed with USCIS on or after June 6, 2005. This includes extensions and amendments involving individuals currently in L-1 status.

Of course, person on L1 status can work at client site as long as he/she is directly managed by company that has sponsored L1 visa. They can not be directly managed by client. That is the restriction. Have you even read posts in this thread?
    until it happens to him/her.

OK I will help in the research.. but this is what I have seen.. all the lawyers are just advising or strongly advising.. no one has metioned why one should NOT do multiple applications, the only reason I have heard so far is that multiple applications (4 - if both the spouses apply for each other as dependents) may cause confusion in allocating the A# and that may lead to problems and complications and eventual delays....
but both me and my wife already have A#'s so does that mean that there wont be any confusion as uscis need not allot A#'s for us.....
jeez.. man ... some one should know better......
anyways I will do more research and pm you if I find any more information apart from what I have stated above.

ArunAntonio, can you pls help search other threads so that we can lay all arguements in one thread and see how different lawyers approach this issue. Only pick answers from lawyers and no opinions. Once we have all advices in one place it will be easy to decide and see pros and cons

    I especially liked this:

Several years later, just before his seventieth birthday in 1939, Gandhi was interviewed by a missionary, Dr. John R. Mott. Mott asked Gandhi to single out the most creative experience of his life. This was Gandhis reply:

"I recall particularly one experience that change the course of my life. Seven days after I had arrived in South Africa the client who had taken me there asked me to go to Pretoria from Durban. It was not an easy journey. On the train I had a first-class ticket, but not a bed ticket. At Maritzburg, when the beds were issued, the guard came and turned me out. The train steamed away leaving me shivering in cold. Now the creative experience comes there. I was afraid for my very life. I entered the dark waiting room. There was a white man in the room. I was afraid of him. What was my duty; I asked my self. Should I go back to India, or should I go forward, with God as my helper and face whatever was in store for me? I decided to stay and suffer. My active non-violence began from that day."
That wintery night in the waiting room on a railway platform, Gandhi made the fateful decision which changed the lives of thousands of South Africans and still inspires us today.

I just called USCIS using POJ method. Nice IO . She took time listening BUT same darn response.
I had opened a service request on 9/8 . I recieved a letter stating to wait for 6 months.
IO told me ,all the name check, FP are cleared. No RFE.
Since SR is open, wait for 6 months.
    well, thats my story.

Don't lose hope...we get all sort of answers on phone. If everything is clear you are going to get approval. It is a matter of days

I already had conversation with american people ( not any desi's)

ummm...not sure what that means....are you saying 'american' people can give you better advice on this matter "of leaving the house because you are moving for a different job" than 'desis'.

U tell me how wise it is to give a loan to a person without a down payment..The reason i said that other people are stupid is because.. i took an ARM loan of 5 years,, where i knew that i am not going to live in the house for more than 3 years and will later sell it..and there are people who knew that they are going to stay in the same house for more than their ARM period.. but didnt realize that they wont be able to make payment once the rate is re-adjusted.. i am calling those people's decision as stupid..
about me making a bad decision about buying a house.. well not 2 years ago..
i can sell the house for a loss of may be 20,000.. but why should i pay that money from my pocket.. i can keep that in my savings account and use it in my bad time..

Are you sure you have a job, a house and have the capacity to get to work without needing assistance ?
Your simplistic explanation about ARMs Vs length of ownership of the house, decision to 'leave the house' because of a job (whatever that means, did you lose your job or did you find a better job or what ?) is just incredible.

How much down payment did you make ? Won't you lose that amount?

Here is a conversation I had with a co-worker recently:
Co-worker took a 3/1 ARM and bought a house which is beyond her means. Now the rate adjusted to a crazy amount and she is finding it hard to pay her mortgage. She blames everybody from her broker to banker to Obama to Paulson to foreign workers.
Rationalizing to suit your needs is a fallacy. As a grown up you have to own up to the decisions you make. Running away from your financial commitments giving simplistic rationalizations will get you into deeper trouble.

Anyways, my own interest in this discussion is what sledge_hammer nailed, people like him/her and I pay for your greed.

It seems like you are smarter than others or may be you have more insight.
How come total pre-adjudicated in the chart is exactly equal to total I-485 in the pdf ?
What exactly total in chart tool means ?
You might be convinced that you are right but stating that others are asking stupid questions is little too far.

Its not that I think I am smarter or have any additional insight...but I take things at face value. Of course the total number of pending cases in the chart and in the PDF should match - they both are exactly what they say they are "PENDING EMPLOYMENT BASED I-485 cases" If that's what the report title says, that's exactly what it means. No point in over-analyzing if this is just for pre-adjudicated or only primary applications etc....

I say stupid questions because people still ask "Does the PDF report contain numbers for dependents or only for primary applicants" - so you are telling me that this is not clear from the PDF report??

My $0.02. This could be a pre-emptive measure on the part of AILA. There must have been some talk at the state department of mid-month regression. This might be a strategy to scotch that. Raise a ruckus and send a message that we are prepared to file a law suit. Who knows? We are mere pawns in this grand game. Whatever happens, I hope people keep some perspective and not lose sleep over this.

AILA members already milked enough $$$ for this year ..they will be first happy if dates go back ..repeat clients:)
